After a long year of unprecedented challenges, we are welcoming the Spring with a fresh set of mini workshops specially designed to elevate your wellbeing.
Join us this term as we delve into the therapeutic side of making.

Aromatherapy

Lean on herbal remedies to calm your nervous system! During this 3 hour course, go on a multi sensory journey into the world of essential oils and aromatherapy.
Participants will learn about the history and science behind aromatherapy, they will also learn how to blend oils with almond oil and Dead Sea Salts to make their own anti stress aromatherapy products!

Linoleum Print Tote Bag

Customize your own tote bag by learning the ins and outs of repeat pattern making and block printing. During this course, learn how to hand draw patterns and how to transfer them on linoleum sheets before carving and printing them on your desired cloth material. At the end of the workshop, you will be leaving with your very own, unique, hand-printed tote bag!

Polymer Clay Earrings

Clay polymer earrings are all the rage right now! With their bright and happy colours, there is an infinite number of techniques you can learn to make your own fabulous accessories to accompany you throughout the upcoming summer days!
In this two day workshop, you will learn how to make marble effects, how to mix and match different shapes and colors together, and how to bake, paint and polish your final product!

Crochet

Have you always been interested in Crochet work but never got around exploring it on your own? We are offering a two half-day workshop at the institute to learn the basic stitches that can give you the base to make any project you want later on.
Crochet is an enjoyable weaving craft. All you need is a hook and a ball of yarn if you want to join our two half-day workshop for learning basic crochet skills at the institute.
All you need is a crochet hook in whatever size you wish and a ball of yarn that has the same hook size indication.

Required materials from students:
– Crochet hooks size 3 or 4
– Yarn balls size 3 or 4

Graphic T-shirt Design

In this Maker Tuesdays workshop, we will get to explore the process of designing a graphic t-shirt. We will look at examples and at the elements that make a successful t-shirt design. We will dive into the design process, starting off with research to sketching options. Then we will move into finalizing and digitizing our designs using illustrator. 
Finally, we will head out to a local printer’s office and print our final designs.

Required materials from students:
– Personal laptop with Adobe Illustrator installed

Decorative Sculpture

This workshop is a fun and relaxing take on clay sculpting. Create your own decorative sculptures to amp up your home decor game! In 2 days, make yourself a new set of modern coasters, clay-covered tin planers and a cute dish for your rings, keys or incense sticks! On day one, we will be delving into our clay matter to sculpt our products, and we will spend day two painting and decorating the sculptures to fit your decor!

DIY Skincare

Skin care is self care!
There are so many home remedies you could prepare that are easy fixes to both your physical and mental health right in your kitchen cupboards!
In this crash course, learn the science behind making your own home remedy skincare formulas by diving into essential oils, carrier oils, and the fundamentals of skincare formulating!
At the end of this crash course, you will be making your own body scrubs and lip scrubs just in time for Spring time!

Natural Dyeing

Natural Dyeing is an eco-conscious technique used to get natural colors out of organic materials. Naturally dye your own scarf or t-shirt in our upcoming dyeing workshop with instructor Basma Omar. Learn how to prepare your materials, the various techniques used to extract the colors and how to set your colors in place in this unique crash course!

  • Fees must be paid in full before attending the first session.
  • Since space is limited, early registration is advised as we follow a first come, first serve policy.”
  • A non refundable JD 50 registration fee is required.
  • Registration deadline is one week before the first day of the course.
  • Should you withdraw from the course before the registration deadline and paid the full amount, the institute will retain the JD 50 registration fee.
  • Should you withdraw from the class after the registration deadline you will be eligible to receive 50% of the total fees, unless you have a medical problem or an unforeseen circumstance (death in the family, accident, etc). In order to receive a refund, all necessary documentation must be presented.
  • You are not eligible to withdraw or transfer to another class once you attend the first session.
  • In the case of course cancellation by the institute, registered students are notified by email and given a full refund or credit towards another course.
  • The institute may postpone a course no later than one week before it starts if there is low demand. You can either transfer onto another available course, or wait for the next term.
