Jewellery Design



Jewellery Design is the art of designing jewellery using drawing and sketching techniques. Our Jewellery design  program consists of three levels:

1. Sketching and technical drawing

2. Free-hand drawing and colour rendering.

3. Rhino 3D modelling.

These courses are aimed to teach drawing skills as the basics to becoming a jewellery designer. The learning of these skills is considered essential in order to develop creativity in laying the foundations of a proper design approach.

The program provides an adequate understanding of the representation of graphic languages by:

1. Sketching

2. Descriptive geometry

3. Technical drawing

4. Mixed illustration techniques

Jewellery design as a profession allows you to work as a freelancer or in a jewellery company.


Jewellery Design I

This course is an introductory course to Jewellery Design. It is aimed for those who have a limited or no knowledge of jewellery design. The course objective is to teach students to represent the idea of a jewellery piece through sketching and pencil drawing. The program teaches technical drawing, students will learn the elements of pure geometry using the orthogonal projections method, and the isometric representation method. Students will learn to represent a jewellery piece with the exact shape and size.

The ultimate goal is to design an object with elaborate graphics that allow the analysis of form and function before moving on to the final process.

Jewellery Design II

This course is for candidates that have already acquired the basic skills of technical drawing and are able to represent jewellery pieces. This course will include the study of the individual components of a jewellery piece and analysis of issues related to designing a jewellery collection. Students will learn to freehand sketch jewellery pieces as well as adding colour to their final work.

  1. Geometry ruler set (2 small triangles, 50 cm ruler, protractor)

  2. French curve ruler set

  3. Two large triangles

  4. Compass

  5. Circle & ellipse template

  6. 0.35 mechanical pencil (HB lead)

  7. 0.5 mechanical pencil (HB lead)

  8. HB & B pencils or clutch pencil with HB & B lead

  9. 0.1 black ink pen

  10. Rubber eraser

  11. Kneaded eraser

  12. A3 soft paper sketch book

  13. A3 hard paper sketch book

  14. Tracing paper

Registration terms & conditions

 Since space is limited early registration is advised as we follow a “first come, first serve policy”.

• In order to secure a spot a non- refundable 50% of the total amount as a downpayment is required before or by the registration deadline.

• Should you withdraw from the class before the registration deadline and paid the full amount, you will only be eligible to receive 50% of the total fees.

• Should you withdraw from the class after the registration deadline you will not be eligible to receive a refund unless you have a medical problem or an unforeseen circumstance (death in the family, accident, etc). In order to receive a refund, all necessary documentation must be presented.

• In the case of course cancellation by Design Institute Amman, registered students are notified by email and given a full refund of the course fee or credit towards another course.

• Registration deadline is 10 days before the first day of the course.


Carmela Pipicelli

Studied at the State Institute of art “P. Panetta ” Locri (RC), Italy Diploma of Art Metals and Jewelry 1997-2002. Trained at FOR.AL, educational institution of Valenza, Italy. Attained her qualification level denomination Goldsmith & Designer with qualification level Specialization and her Qualification level denomination Technical embedding and jewellery typical Valencian with qualification level Specialization.

Worked at Zanotto & Co. Valenza, Italy, as a Goldsmith & Jewellery Designer for 4 years. In 2008 she moved to Amman where she started working with Karam Imseeh Jewellery Amman and in 2012 at Nabeel Sakkijha Jewellery as a designer and quality control.

Her experience in stone setting, wax modelling and computer modelling (3DMax & Rhinoceros for Jewellery and Rendering) allows her to be on top of her career designing collections and developing them into product lines.
